He is PERFECT!

HEY GUYS!!

We are so excited to let everyone know that Colton has made his appearance!! He is absolutly AMAZING.

I went in for the C section at 4 on Dec. 21st and Colton was born at 4:13! He weighed 6 lbs 15 1/2 ounces and was 20 and 1/2 inches long. Beautiful.

We got to come home on the 23rd. We only had to stay two nights. I was ready .. I am slowly recovering and Colton is adjusting really well to being in his new home.

Mimi Dar and PawPaw David (we have not come up with a different name yet) were able to fly in to be here and also Mee Maw Sherry and PawPaw Roy, Uncle Roy and Aunt Kelsey made it BARELY in time to see us being wheeled out. It was so nice to be surrounded by our loved ones!!

I am trying to adjust to having a new born, so I don't know how often at first I will update this! I might get Krista to get on and let everyone know..

But we just want to say thank you for your thougths and prayers, and for all the well wishes!!

We love you all!

Letter to my baby

To my first born,

WOW, today is the big day. I am very excited to meet you! I just can't believe that after 9 months of it being "you and me Kid" I am about to bring you into this world and share you with everyone.

I have so many promises for you. I promise you unconditional love. As you get older, you will realize what a rare thing this is, but your mommy and daddy will love you unconditionally, no matter what this big, bad world brings, you will always have us in your corner. We have waiting for you, longed for you, prayed for you for so long it seems, and all this time our love for you has just been building and building.

We promise to give you all the tools you need to succeed in life, self confidence, faith in the Lord, morals to do the right thing and the knowledge that failure is not always wrong or a bad thing, we have to fail sometimes in order to learn.

We promise you a safe haven for a home... that when you are in your home, you will be surrounded by love, laughter, support and I am sure a little football!! I promise that your dad and I will use kind words to you and to each other. Yes, we might sometimes argue but we will do so with respect for our home, it is not a battle ground.

Our hopes and dreams for you are so high, we want you to grow up to be a loving, caring individual. We want you to be confident enough to be your own person, to walk the right path with your head held high, even if it is not the path everyone else seems to be walking. We just want your life to be a happy and full filling one.

We love you so very much. I cannot belive that in 12 hours I will be holding you in my arms. It can't get here soon enough.

We love you, child of our hearts!

Fire Alarms, Stairs, Paramedic's OH MY

Ok.. so Friday was a little nuts. Let me back up by saying about three months or so ago, my co workers and I watched this building a block away from us burn to the GROUND in 30 minutes. I am not kidding, from the time we saw a little flame in the window to the whole thing being on the ground was 30 minutes... so I have been a tad bit freaked about working on the 5th floor.

Ok, so Friday afternoon, the fire alarm goes off. Last time the alarm went off, there was no recording. This time, a man's voice came on and said "This buildings alarm has been activated. Please make your way to the nearest exit". . Well, you don't need to tell this girl twice, I beat all my co workers down. I was not RUNNING mind you, but I was certainly hauling butt, you know, to be on the safe side.

We get to the first floor and they tell us "yes, this was just a false alarm" So I say "ok, I am not going to take the stairs back up, I will just wait for the elvators to work again" About this time, I realize I am having a problem catching my breath, which is a no brainer, I get short of breath just walking around the building sometimes, so you can imagine after five flights what I was doing.. then everyone starts getting nervous because I really could NOT catch my breath, I start hyperventilating. I was shaking like a leaf.. it was freaky. The fire men show up for the alarm and end up coming over to take a look at me... umm kind of embarassing but I let them do their thing. When I went to the doctor on Thursday my blood pressure was 110 over 90 and when he took it after the alarm it was 170... yes, I was freaked out. So I finally calmed myself down and went up the elevator to relax for a minute before I went home.. then I started getting cramps.. Karla, my co worker, was like "GET IN THE CAR".. I called my doc and he said that it was braxton hicks and that I just needed to go home and relax, drink lots of water and if they continue, to come on in. They did not continue, so I did not have to go to the hospital.

I must have really got the baby riled up because the little darling spent the whole night kicking and moving, just letting me know "Hey mom, I am alright in here".. haha, it was actually a relief.

I had many calls from co workers, the conversations were the same.. starting off with concern of my health, the baby etc.. after they were assured that I was alright, the lectures began, they were all given with love, but man I heard it. I don't know what possessed me to haul down the stairs, all I can say is, I had the adrenaline pumping and there was no slowing my butt down!!

Other than that.. things are great. On Thursday's appt the doc said my cervix is thinned out ALOT but no dialation... we can see what he says next Thursday, if I make it that long!!

Hope to hear from you guys!

We love you!

14 more days, I can't believe it

I cannot believe that I have been pregnant for 38 weeks! INSANE. I am ready to have this baby though. I am ready to sleep comfortably (when I do get to sleep that is) Walk without waddling, have a glass of wine HA HA.. and of course, I can't wait to meet this baby!

Everyone is ready, kind of on pins and needles. Every day when I leave work, I have to make sure everything is in order, just in case. I have gotten quite used to everyone touching my tummy and guessing if it is a boy or girl (the consensus is BOY, but we will see).

Jett and Krista are really ready to meet the baby as well. As fun as it is to sit and watch my stomach morph into many different shapes, we can't wait to hold and kiss and touch this little one.

We had Jett's Christmas party on Saturday, it was a lot of fun. I actually stayed up until 10! WOW. We won a couple cool gifts, had a nice meal that included chocolate covered strawberries. The highlight though was that they paid for us a room and the next morning we went to IHOP!! I love, love, love IHOP and we never go because it is usually busy and it is all the way in town, so that was a nice way to cap off the weekend!

Grandma is in the hospital again, she was having a lot of pain and they think it might be gout.. I will let you know what they find out!!

I hope that this finds you doing well! We love and miss you and will be emailing once the little one comes!!

Love

WOW

So my friend at work who was due the same day as me had her baby!! She knew she was going to have a C section but she developed pre eclampsia and they took the baby early. He only weighs 4 lbs 9 ounces, so tiny!! Makes me so ready to hold this baby.

The days are getting close.. only 20 more til my due date.. I keep thinking that I am ready but then I wonder, am I really? HA HA

Saturday we listened to Kent's football game on the internet, they did not end up winning but they had a good season and there is always next year! Jeff's team is still in the play offs, so we will hope they take state again this year.

That night we had Krista's crowning as Ms. BRCC. She looked so pretty, kind of freaked me out that she was wearing a wedding dress, but that is something that the committee makes the girls do. Hopefully it will be a LONG WHILE before she puts one of those on again :)

This weekend is busy, we have the parade, Sid's birthday party, and then Jett's Christmas party.. which should all be fun. I am sure I will have pictures up later!

Well, that is all for now! I am feeling good, just ready for the baby to come!

Love to all!

Visit from the family

WOOOO HOOOOOO!!! The Walker's came to town! In my haste to go to sleep, I totally forgot to write about the visit from the family!!

It was so great. They got here on Friday at about 1, it was Mom, Dad, Roy Jr, Kala and Kelsey!! We had a nice late lunch and then the LSU game was on.. they lost in a bunch of overtimes, the guys were into it, the girls.. umm, not so much!

THEN Jett found BOTH Kent and Jeff's games on the internet radio stations, so we all sat around and listened.. ok, the guys listened til the end, I wimped out and went to sleep, but I DID dream about being there.. ok.. well I wish I had been there but I don't dream about football.. whatev.. I love it that they won!! WOO HOO GO Dragons and Go Panthers!

Saturday we get up and it is raining and dreary but we decide to head to the big city of Baton Rouge to show some sights and of course, SHOP! We took them to the state capitol and to the casino boats, through the ghetto (kind of and not on purpose) then we headed to WalMart. We found the present we are getting for Sammi and then we played with all the toys (ha.. you think I am joking, but I am not) and then decided we were hungry. We ate at Jason's deli, which I love that place. After I threw up (not at the table of course) we left. The guys headed home for.. *GASP** more football and the girls headed off to find PIG stuff for Sammi. We decided that Kala should just make Sammi a Pig comforter instead of buying one.. well, mainly because we could not find one to buy anywhere. So we thought fabric shopping should be a breeze. Umm, not so much. If anyone can find pig fabric, it would be much appreciated. However, I did find a robe to wear in the hospital, score for me.

We then headed to this consignment shop for maternity and children. I have to find a formal to wear to Krista's crowning, you know, since she IS Ms. BRCC and also to Jett's company party. I should have skipped the shops and gone straight to the tent shop.. but that is beside the point. I found a cute little dress, it was only like 65.00 USED.. Kala found Sammi a dress, same story. Needless to say, we bailed on that and headed to Burlington. I found a dress that I am .. ehh, ok with .. not my favorite but at this point, there is NOTHING attractive about me in a dress, so I just settled for this one. Next I have to find some boots, but hey, I have about four days to do that HA!

By the time we were done with all that we (well, I say we but everyone knows that I mean I) were wore out.. so we headed home to the house. We stopped at the store and got stuff to make taco's and finally made it home. I was so tired. The guys were watching a really good movie on lifetime.. oh who am I kidding, it was football again.. same story different verse.. so we spent the rest of the night just hanging out, picking on each other and eating tacos. Jett went and got Krista from the airport, she had flown to Texas for Thanksgiving and so he went to bring her home.. so that was good to have her back.. we miss the snot when she is gone :)

Sunday bright and early it was time for them to leave.. they pulled out around 6 45 and I thought I would go back to sleep.. instead, I pulled everything out of the fridge and scrubbed it. Let's face it, this nesting phase I am going through is going to drive everyone nuts.. luckily Jett and Krista wait til I conk out (which is constantly) to talk about me being psycho..

All in all, it was a great visit from them and I am so happy they made the long trip after a hectic Thanksgiving in Corpus.. I have the best in laws in the world .. and I really and truly mean that :)

Love to all!

29 days

YIKES.. I can't believe it is only 29 days! WOW.. But, I can say that I AM READY! Ok.. not so ready for the actual giving birth, but ready to meet this sweet child and ready to feel good again. I have been kind of icky the last few days. I guess that I should be happy that I was not one of the many women who are cursed with 9 months of misery.. I have been very lucky.. I am just feeling it now.. My back hurts, my feet hurt, my stomach hurts.. *SIGH* I am just READY.

We go back to the doctor this Thursday! I am hoping he will say everything is good. I don't know why, but I just get nervous every time I go in.. Like, I still can't believe this is happening, we are really having a baby!!

Cyrus did come spend Thanksgiving with us.. it was a great day of boring football and great conversation that led to me *shock* winning a 500.00 bet. Oh yes, I am the all knowing wonder woman :)

Kelli and Krista surprised us last night with our bassinet and some other goodies for the babe!! Jett put it together and it is just beautiful. Now, all I need is a baby to put in it!

KENT and JEFF'S TEAMS BOTH WON LAST WEEKEND!! They have some tough teams to beat this weekend, but I know they can do it. I just wish we were there to cheer them on!

Well, time to go take a nap!

Thanksgiving

Dear Friends and Family

First off, I must say, "how bout them Red Raiders????" I am not a huge sports fanatic like Jett, I could care less about most sports, but I just love Texas Tech and I am so glad we beat Oklahoma :)

Ok.. with that said.. back to my posting :)

I went to the doctor on Thursday for my 35 week check up. Can you even believe that in 5 weeks (hopefully just a tad less) we will have this baby here?? I mean, I just can't believe that we will be holding our baby. My excitement can't be expressed by words.

Thinking about all the blessings we have had this past year just brings me to tears, and yes, probably part of that is just the fact that I am an emotional hormonal pregnant woman (Jett and Krista can attest to that).

We had a few (23) of our close friends come over to the house on Saturday to celebrate Thanksgiving with us. We did not want to do it on Thanksgiving day, since everyone will be with their family. It was so nice to have everyone over, and if you know me, then you know any excuse for me to cook / bake is cause for great excitement. I made 2 pecan, 2 apple and 1 cherry pie from scratch. I made a whole bag full of mashed potatoes, 72 deviled eggs, 2 loaves of home made bread, rolls, the ham and the turkey (Jett did the last two). Everyone else brought the sides. Krista and Jett set up a volleyball net, which everyone seemed to enjoy.

I think the main thing for me was looking around as we were about to say grace. It really hit me at how much life has changed and will continue to change for us. A little over a year ago, we moved here not knowing anyone. Yesterday we had so many people we almost ran out of space. It was awesome.. and humbling. I have said this many times, but I am always amazed at how we are taken care of!! I love it.

One of the things that I am most thankful for (other than this new baby) is our neighbors Darren, Kelli, Corey and Sid. They have just become our best friends. At any given time during the day, you will find either us at their house or them at ours. I just tear up when I think of how blessed I am to have them in our life. It is so awesome to think that this friendship will be one that will last us through our lives!!!!!! I just love them!!

On another side note, Kent's team, the Roundrock Dragons AND Jeff's team, the Liberty Hill Panthers, are both going to the PLAYOFFS!! WOO HOO. I am sure a majority of the reason is because of Jeff and Kent's amazing coaching skills! I just wish we could be there to watch them!

Roy, Sherry, Kala, Kelsey and Roy Jr are coming to see us!! WOO HOO. They will leave Corpus on Friday!!! I am so excited. I was very sad that we were having to miss Thanksgiving in Corpus.. this is the next best thing!!!!

Krista leaves to go to Lubbock on Tuesday. She will be back on Saturday. I am happy she gets to go home.. it has been a while..

Cyrus is also coming to see me.. if he knows what is good for him... on Thursday.. I am excited about that as well!!

I guess that is it.. this is a random blog, I know.. just can't seem to concentrate!

Oh yeah.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRACI!!!!! I LOVE AND MISS YOU!!!

No fat jokes :) :) :) Love y'all!

All is good

Dear Diary :)

Well the doc scheduled me for an MRI and I had that done.. I have emailed everyone on that procedure.. ick :) BUT I did get the results and all is well.. Now we just wait for baby to get here.

I cannot believe that in two months I will have this baby in my arms!!! It is just the most amazing thing in the world..

Other that that, Louisiana is great.. it has cooled down some (in the 50 to 60's) and so it is nice to actually need a jacket ha ha.

I am about half way or so done on my Christmas shopping. I am very excited about that. This year, we are going to get a real tree!! Christmas is my favorite time of year, and now we have so much more to celebrate!

Krista is running for Ms. BRCC at her college.. I hope she wins! She has been doing a lot of campaigning and we made her some posters, they turned out cute!

Well, this is a random post, just wanted to catch you up on what was going on in our lives!

We had a scare

Hey guys!!

Thursday night we kind of had a scare. I got home from work and was cutting potatoes when suddenly I realized that I could not see my finger tips. Every time I would blink, I would see spots, only they would not go away. So I went over to Kelli and Darren's to see what the resident nurses would say to me. Kelli was working and as I was describing it to Darren I realized that now it was not spots, but more like when you are driving and the road is hot and it looks like water on the road (does that make sense) so he gets on the phone with Kelli. As he is talking I lose all focus of his face, it just went black. VERY SCARY! She tells me to call my doctor so I called the answering service.

When the doc calls back he says that I should go to the urgent care. So I called Jett to come home and while I was waiting on him, Kelli got there and took my blood pressure, which was fine. My heartbeat was fine, the baby was moving, I did not feel sick, I was not hurting, I just was blind. HMM, not a good sign.

Slowly, my vision did return, but just to be on the safe side Jett and I went on in to the urgent care. A couple hours later we get the diagnosis, an opthamalic (sp) migrane. Which is strange, when I have been around people with migranes, they have to go to a dark room, everyone has to be silent and they just sleep it off.. but I was not in pain. That is, until they told me it was a migrane.. then of course my head hurt for the next three days :)

A funny story happened while we were at the urgent care though. By the time we got in the room, we had been waiting for over an hour.. so the doc comes in and asks what is going on.. and I tell him I am 28 weeks pregnant and then I tell him my syptoms.. he tells me it is pretty common and we go over what the diagnosis is. Then he asks if I have an obstetrician. Now, at this point, I am just thinking of me being blinded so I don't hear obstetrician, I hear opthamologist (for my eyes) so I tell him, "nope, I don't have one" Of course, he was shocked to hear that and offered me many names of local doctors. It was after he walked out and Jett pointed out to me that he asked for my OB doc that I realized that pregnancy brain (STUPIDNESS) is alive and well with me :) I am sure he thought we were brilliant, being 28 weeks pregnant and not having a doctor. SIGH.. hopefully this will go away after the baby comes!!

I am feeling fine, the headache has gone away and life seems to be going reall good! I have a new friend at work who just started and she is due the same day as I am, so it is really comforting to know someone else who I can compare and talk to about what is going on... plus we will both be on maternity leave together so that will be really fun!!!

Hope this finds you guys doing great :)

We love you all!

Website

Hey guys!!

Just wanted to also remind you to go to www.jettandshauna.com to see more pictures (well, really the pictures I have posted here are the only new ones I have posted, but some people can't see them on this blog)

Also there is a guestbook on that site.. I know Sarah has been keeping us updated on Round Rock and Liberty Hill scores.. so be sure to check those out!

As for me and baby, we are doing really well.. the baby is kicking and moving around ALOT, which still amazes us. Jett has felt it quite a few times, but Krista still has not been around when the baby decides to move..

Hope this finds you guys well!!

Dallas Baby Shower

WOO HOO Our last baby shower!!

Krista and I left Baton Rouge on Thursday at around 5, it was not a bad trip to Dallas, we pulled in to Jossies apartment around 10 30... not too shabby. We stayed up and visited for a while and then hit the sack.

On Friday we woke up kind of late but it was not too bad. We went to Walmart to get me some nice arch supports (I know, I am an old lady ha). Then it was off to the malls. I could not find ANYTHING to wear to the shower.. I don't know what was wrong, but I just could not find anything. Krista found some cute tops and shoes.. Then we went back to Walmart to get the groceries so I could cook supper (I love to cook and Joslyn never gets home cooked meals..soo .. I cooked)

While I was cooking, Joslyn and Krista left to go get DAWN!!!! WOO HOO She flew in for the shower.. I was so excited to see her! We ate our spaghetti and had a great time visiting and catching up. Who would have thought that I had it in me to stay up til Midnight!! But we did.. It was so much fun.

Saturday we got up early, all got ready and then went to the hotel to say hey to Dar and David (And Shelby). They had had an exhausting couple of days. David had to spend the night in the hospital.. long story but he is ok. They needed time to sleep so we headed to go shop. Well, before we went and shopped we decided that we needed to get our cars washed * FUNNY STORY ALERT*

So Dawn and I are in my car and Krista and Joslyn are in her car. Well, we go through the car wash and pull around to wait for Joslyn and Krista... waiting.. waiting.. then *ring ring* I pick up my cell "Hello" and I hear Krista saying "oh my God, Oh my God.. we broke the car wash.. " Dawn and I start to laugh.. I say yeah right.. she says "Oh no, there are like 10 workers here cussing in spanish, they have stopped it"

Turns out, the guy at the beginning did not get Joslyn lined up properly on the track and after the high pressure swirly things got done, Krista and Joslyn come out and her car is basically turned sideways. Krista reaches over and lays on the horn which got the men to come and turn the car wash off. They finally got her straightened out on the track and after she pulls out of the car wash they realize it had POPPED her tire.. YIKES.

So we had to go to Sams, get her a new tire (which the car wash paid for). It was so trying but SO FUNNY (after we all realized it was ok.. I hope you can laugh at it too Jossie)

We went and visited Sam Moon (did not find anything) and the scrapbooking store (found a LOOOT). Then Krista, Dawn and I went and met Dar and David at TGIF's for lunch.. then off to the shower.

We walk in to Breadwinners and I see all my buddies! Mary Claire and Judy who I have not seen in FOREVER were there, Joslyn,Dawn, Dar, Krista Michele from my work here in Baton Rouge came .. her sis lives in Dallas so she was down visiting and made it to the shower. So.. we were visiting and getting ready to get the "party" started when in walks this lady.. and I look, and then do a double take.. LAURAL!!!! Laural my good friend from Minnesota was there!! I think I was in SHOCK.. I never expected to see her. Her friend Joyce also lives in the Dallas area so she made a weekend of it.. I was so shocked.. (did I already say that?).. and then Jena and her sweet baby Reagan joined us a little later. It was such a great time, we had lots of good sweets (death by chocolate.. YUMMY) and I got a TON of gifts.. It was so amazing. I did not want it to end.. I really just had an amazing time.. Plus Mary and Joslyn did a great job planning so the games and gifts were fun and again, the food was to die for!!

After the shower we went out to eat with Dar and David and then went back to Joslyns and hung out.

Sunday we all got up, met at IHOP and then had to say goodbye. It was hard because I knew that it would be a while before I saw everyone again.

I am just so thankful to have so many good, close friends.. you all made me feel so special and so beautiful. I can't wait to introduce you to this sweet baby!!!

Here are some pictures from the shower! The first two are of the peoples :) And the second two are the gifts!!

Texas Tech vs Rice

Wreck 'em Tech!!

We had an amazing weekend in Houston.. not only because the Red Raiders whooped some Rice Owls (HA HA What a mascot huh) but mainly because we got to catch up with the old gang.

Matt and Traci joined us and then we met up with Dave and Jamie, Tara and Chris, Matt, Ryan, Crystal, Brandon, Mel.... I probably forgot someone.. sorry if I did!!

Somehow we had the hookup and tailgating was amazing. We had three huge tents, lots of good food and a big screen TV.. in fact, it was so hot that Traci and I (and eventually everyone else) ended up back out there to finish watching the game.

Then Matt, Traci, Jett and I ended up back at the sweet hotel (THANKS DAVE) and played spades which the boys won.. I know, boring us.. I have an excuse ha ha I am pregnant..

We also caught an Astro's game but it turned out to be disappointing.. we tried to get there early enough to get some dominos that they were giving out, but none of us got any.. DANG IT!

It was so nice to see everyone again.. and of course it was like Traci and I had never been apart :) I wish we lived closer (TEAR) but hopefully sooner than later we can rectify that!!

Here is a pic of Jett, Me, Traci and Matt!!!

Off to Corpus

Happy Early Labor Day!

Jett, Krista and I are headed to Corpus for our baby shower. We are very excited!! Mainly because we get to see everyone but also because we get PRESENTS for the nursery.. it is looking so bare without decorations, so this will help make it more real.

I have had so many sweet stories from people who have seen the ultrasound. Isn't it so amazing?? I just keep watching it over and over and over again, that is our baby in there!!

I am feeling great, I have a ton of energy and am in that cleaning mode, the house can't be clean enough.. isn't that funny? Clutter is driving me insane and if I see any I just start going nuts. Guess that is a good thing!

Happy Birthday to (Aunt) Brittani!! I wish we were closer to ya where we could have helped you celebrate, that is what sucks about being so far away! Anyways, hope you had a great birthday and know that we were all thinking of you!!!

Well, that is it for now. Happy travels to everyone over the weekend and we will update with some great pictures on Monday!

DUH

I also forgot to add that Mary Claire and Joslyn are hosting a shower in Dallas for me and Mom Walker is doing one in Corpus. If you can attend either one, please shoot Joslyn an email at joslyn.west@gmail.com and her and Mary will get ya an invite!!

It's a BABY!

I am so sorry it has been a while. For some reason, I am not able to access this site at work, and I was used to updating it on my lunch break..

Well, on Wednesday Jett, Krista and I got to meet the baby....sort of. We did get to see the little cutie squirming around in my belly, waving his/her little fist and the sweetest of all, the ultrasound tech had a profile of the baby and we could see the little mouth open and close while baby was drinking!! It was very moving and yes, I did cry a little bit!! We did get some great pictures, I just have to figure out how to scan them.

The baby is healthy and right on track. She checked the spine to make sure everything looked good.. and it was perfect! The heart was beating normally, the kidneys were there, we got to see the feet and toes and arms and hands and nose and brain.. but we did not look at the pee pee HA HA When people ask "what are you having" I just keep responding with "a BABY!". I know that some people are a tad disappointed that we are not finding out, but we just want to be surprised. The doctor helps us keep this decision when he tells us that his favorite births are surprise births, because the moment that he looks up and tells the mom and dad "you have a son or you have a daughter is MAGICAL".. so I hope that everyone understands that Jett and I want that moment, and most likely we will want that moment with each of our future children too. My friend said "if we were supposed to find out what we were having, then God would have put a window in your stomach so you can see"... I also feel the same way about the blood work.. I think with our next baby, I will skip the tests. The results will not change any love or plans we have and there is no need to stress out.

The other thing the doctor told us is that I am actually 10 days or so ahead of what he had predicted. So, Kelli was right on the mark when she told me it was going to be a Christmas baby!! I just am so excited.. while all the other people are opening up their Ipods and Playstations and knitted sweaters, we are going to be meeting our first born child!! AMAZING!!

Well, here is a video that Krista took of the ultrasound. I hope it works and if you have volume, you can turn it up to hear what the ultrasound tech has to say.. just ignore my silly comments..

Test Results part 2

Dear Diary!

Well, on Friday (which was 7 days from when Jett had his blood work done) I finally called the doctor's office to see if they had the results. I had been telling myself "just make it until Friday, that is the 7 days they said it would take and there is no use worrying about it before hand". Friday around 1:00 I called and got the answering service, the doctor was out that day, and so the staff left at noon. I was HOT. I had been worried before and now I had to add the whole weekend to stew over it.

Well, today I called and left a message. The nurse just called me and let me know that Jett is NOT a carrier!! Praise the LORD!!!! Of course, blame it on the hormones, but I just started crying. I was so relieved!!

So now, I just get to worry about picking out a boy name in case it is a boy and trying to get up the energy to take a walk each night, it is hard when the temp is over 100!! Jett got our pool pretty again, so I can try to get some exercise in there I guess!!

Our ultrasound is on the 22nd! I am sure I will be posting some pictures then!!

Much love!

Test Results

Happy Monday!

Last time I went to the doctor, he wanted to run a triple screen blood test on me, since Spinabifida runs on the Walker side of the family. The nurse called me on Thursday to let me know that the results are back and that I am a carrier for cystic fibrosis. Well, of course, I freaked out. I did not understand what that meant. Jett had to have his blood work done and if he is a carrier, that is when the doctor will feel the need to be concerned. Both parents must be carriers for it to be a worry. So right now we are just waiting for those test results.

Other than that, things are great. The flutters are getting stronger and stronger. My appetite is coming back and I am continuing to feel great!

Jett and Darren changed my brakes on Saturday. Poor guys did not know what they were getting into. We thought it was just my break pads but after they got those off, they realized that the .. uhh, rotors (?) were messed up. About 8 hours later my truck was running fine. It was pretty comical from Kelli and my angle but.. not so much for them. The good thing is now Jett knows how to do it and it saved us about 300.00 (which I am sure to spend somewhere else). Thank goodness for great friends!!!

Our pool is kind of green so Sidney and I cooled off in her kiddy pool. I do have pictures, I am just not sure if I am brave enough to post them, HA!

We are still shocked about the bridge in Minnesota. Hopefully they can find the missing people and figure out what happened. All of our friends from up there are accounted for!

Hope the week goes smoothly for you guys!

Flutters

I must say, I can't get over how amazing it is to feel the little flutters of the baby. I will just be sitting at my desk or laying in bed and I will feel the baby start to move. It is amazing.

I really can't wait until Jett and Krista can feel it too!!

Hope everyone is well!!

Long weekend

Hey all!

Whew, what a weekend. Friday night Jett and Krista moved all the furniture in our bedroom to the middle of the floor. Then on Saturday, Jett woke up to go play in the softball tourney for his work. Krista and I stayed home to tackle the bedroom. Well, I tackled the bedroom ha ha. I had to Kilz it because it was puke green and I did not want that color to seep through. Then I painted it two coats of paint, let that dry, cleaned up (gross) and by that time, it was dark outside. I hate it when you start something and you think it will not take but a few hours and it ends up taking 10 hours.

Sunday Jett and I woke up and started in again. First we had to rearrange the bedroom, which took a lot of muscles that were very sore. Then we had to get the nursery cleaned out. Finally got that done and then Jett decided to put the crib together. We finally got that done and called it a night.

Now it is Monday and we are both exhausted and sore, man, we are getting OLD ha. It just feels good to have the big stuff done an d out of the way. We still have to put together the dresser and changing table but the nursery is ready for the baby stuff!! It is hard for me to hold of on buying stuff, I just want to get it decorated NOW ha!

I will post pictures of the nursery after we get the furniture up!

Krista's arm is doing well. She is getting more creative on her ways to get stuff done!

Hope all is well with everyone!

Family News

Jett just got a phone call from Mom (Sherry) and I just wanted to share the news with everyone, so we can all pray.

Kala went to her doctor's appointment in Houston for a checkup. Instead of hearing that everything is fine and we will see you in six months, they found that one of the spots on her lungs has gotten bigger. They want her to come back in three months and if it is bigger they will have to do surgery.

Staci had back surgery not too long ago to have a steel rod placed in her back. They have found that it is leaking some sort of fluid and they are not sure the cause or if it is spinal fluid or what. They are going to have to do another back surgery on her.

Grandma is still having some problems from her surgery as well. They are not sure the cause nor the cure at the moment, but hopefully we can find something out soon.

I am sure there is alot more to each of these but that is just what I know so far, please just keep them in your thoughts and prayers and we will have updates as we get them.

Doctor's Visit

Well, the visit this morning went wonderfully. The heartbeat is very strong, and our baby is moving around alot!! Very active and healthy. Aunt Krista got to go with me to the appointment, so she heard the miracle as well. It was very exciting.

I also did the three screen for spinabifida. Since it runs in the family, we wanted to be on the safe side. Luckily, I had a great nurse who was able to find my vein on the first time.. WHEW! No pain!

Other than that, all is well. I just wanted to update you on Baby Walker!! Next visit = SONOGRAM! I will be posting pictures!

Life is good

Hey all! I know it has been a while, but man things have been busy. We spent the fourth of July in Corpus at the lake with the family. Kent and Sarah drove down and met up with us and Meagan also was able to make it. The trip down was not too bad. Kelsey was with us and her and Krista were able to keep us all entertained. We spent the weekend on the water, watching the guys try to show off (HA). Krista and Meagan did a bunch of tubing, and Krista flipped on the tube and twisted her wrist. We were able to fish some, which I did not catch anything but Sarah did!!

Jett and I found the crib and baby furniture we want, so we went ahead and got that. We also were able to get registered at Babies R Us, Target and Baby Depot (in Burlington Coat Factory). That was hard work.. who knew there was so much to choose from. And expsensive too!! Neither of us had any idea.. oh well, that is life huh!!
Shower preperations are all under way. On the weekend of Labor Day, the family in Corpus is hosting a shower and then on the 22nd of September Mary and Joslyn are giving me a shower in Dallas.. hopefully everyone can come so we can visit before this baby comes!!

This weekend was a busy one. Saturday we went to my company picnic (Pictures below). It was at a really beautiful lake / church camp facility. Krista was able to participate in all the fun activities. Of course, on the way home, she was complaining that her wrist still was hurting, so she decided to go to a walk in clinic. HER WRIST IS BROKEN!! Can you believe it? She had to go to an orthopedic surgeon on Monday to make sure that surgery was not neccessary (thank goodness it is not) so now she has a beautiful black cast on her arm. The legacy of CK (those from Ft. Sumner know what that means) lives on. Krista's comment was "I am so glad I did not go to the doctor before the picnic because then I would not have been able to play on the stuff!" KIDS!!
Our friend Francie from Minnesota gave birth to her sweet twin boys Aiden Joseph and Kennen William Byers. They are a bit premature so we need to keep them in our thoughts but Francie and Joe are doing well and the babies are too. I can't wait to see pictures!!
I guess that is all for now! Leave comments to let me know what is going on with you guys!

Heart Beat

Dear loved ones,

On Tuesday morning, I heard the sweetest sound in the whole world.. our babies heartbeat! I can't even type this without getting all teary eyed. It makes it so real, I have a living sweet innocent baby in my belly!!! How amazing!!!

The doctor said that the heartbeat is good, and that we are hopefully out of the clear in terms of miscarriage.. that now it is less than 1%, so that makes me happy!!

I am really starting to feel alot better in terms of the morning sickness. The only thing is that I am still very tired. I think mostly it is due to the fact I have to get up and visit the restroom a couple times a night, which I am not used to doing. I am trying to drink lots and lots of water, so this could be the contributing factor :)

Kelsey is visiting us this week and her and Krista are just living up the high life.. sleeping in, going to the pool, you name it. It is good to see them having fun!!

Jett and I are both really excited for this baby!!! I know we still have time before he/she comes along, but we are both so excited!!!

Hope all is well for you guys!

Grandma and Staci

Hey Hey Hey!

We had a bit of a scare recently. Mom Walker called to tell us that they were taking WahWah to the hospital, she was in a lot of pain. They called us later to inform us that she was going into surgury, she had kinked intestines!! OUCH. The doctor said anyone else would have been in a month ago, go figure that Tough Grandma waited as long as she could. They took her in and cut her open, fixed the kink and then decided to leave her "open" (did not sew her up) and also she remained in a coma for three days. I think it was because they did not want to have to put her back under if something went wrong, plus the pain was pretty intense. On Monday, they brought her out of the coma and she has been doing better. A little loopy, which is to be expected, but she seems to be getting stronger each day. That is one tough lady.

Speaking of TOUGH, Staci (our little cousin who has spinabifedia) had to go to surgury on Tuesday due to her scoliosis. She had a metal rod insterted into her back. Praise the Lord that she is doing better, although the pain MUST be very intense, she is strong as she is cute, which means, stronger than any one person I know!! We will keep you updated.

Jett went home this past weekend to go to his 10 year reunion, and was able to visit both Staci and Grandma in the hospital. It is tough on us to be so far away from the family, when something like this comes up.. It was good for Jett to have the opportunity to check up on them.

Lucky for us, he brought Kelsey back to spend a week and a half with us! IT should be very entertaining to have her with us, we miss that kiddo :)

Hope this finds each of you well and happy!

Reunion/ Trip Home

Hey all!

I just got back from a whirlwind trip home! It was great to see everyone, but I totally over did it. I left on Tuesday to fly to Lubbock. Lucky me got on standby on both flights in, so instead of landing at 10:00 PM I was home by 8:15!! I did not get sick on the plane, I was worried I would.

Wednesday, Krista and I got up and went to Sam's to shop for my reunion. Then we met Darla and went birthday shopping! I got a bunch of new maternity clothes.. WOO HOO! Krista and I left Lubbock and headed for Ft. Sumner, with a stop in Clovis to pick up the shirts.

My reunion went really well, considering. Lucky for me, my new cousin Amanda Kenyon (Rusty's wife) saved my butt by helping take over most of the doing.. I did the planning and she did the doing. Our float turned out to be fun, we threw a mixture of candy and WATER BALLOONS! Since it was so hot, I think the crown actually enjoyed it :)

Dar and David came into town, along with Aric, so they got to see the parade and then we went to the tug of war where Krista and Leighton ended up in the mud a couple of times :) After that, we headed home.

I just really want to say how great the trip was, for family bonding. I think that it is crazy to think of where we were 6 months ago to now. It feels like the obstacles are just a distant memory and the family that has formed is our future. I am sure there are roadblocks still to come, but what family does not have that?? I am just glad that the stress is gone and we are all able to just be...

I got to spend a good amount of time with Nana. Man, I sure do miss her! She is such a hoot. However, when I got back I got the bad news that Tippy, her beloved ugly dog (he was UGLY) passed away. Nana was very upset, as you can imagine.

Anyways, that is my reunion wrap up. I am so glad it is over.

Pregnancy wise, I am feeling better... still tired. The sickness is getting to be less and less, which is very nice!!

Hope life is good for you!

8 weeks along

Hey guys!

Happy Monday! Things are going relatively well here. I am still feeling kind of yucky and also (Poor Jett) very cranky. It is so strange, I can't help it. Hopefully this will pass rather quickly. I am now 2 months pregnant. I am showing a little bit, of course I am not sure if that is baby showing or if it is the extra pounds I was trying to loose before we got pregnant. Either way, my clothes are tighter and my belly sticks out a big more. I will try to get some pictures up.

Krista is visiting Lubbock and Ft. Sumner for a few weeks. She went home for Aric's graduation and is also going to spend time with Nana and PeePaw. I am glad she gets to see everyone, but we sure do miss her. I am flying home for my 10 year reunion in June. I am nervous to fly because I always take Dramamine for flying so this will be the first time in a long time that I have had to do it without that. I feel bad for whoever it is that is sitting next to me :)

I don't really have any news... I will write more later!

Love to all!

Doctor's Visit

Dear Friends and Family

It is official. The doctor confirmed it.. not that I had any doubts ha ha! Kelli and Darren recommended us to Dr. Shawn Kleinpeter and he is wonderful. He was very informative and encouraging, settling any unease I was feeling. Sometimes nerves just get the best of you, ya know?

I am approximately 7 weeks along. The due date is set around Dec 30th, but we won't know for sure until I go back on the 26th of June. This is when they are hoping to hear the heartbeat!

I feel so lucky that Jett wants to go to every visit possible with me. Alot of women I have talked to said that their husbands did not go to doctor's visits, did not help out or anything. Thank the Lord that is not what I am saying about Jett. He has been amazing! I have not felt like cooking or cleaning or talking ha ha. All I have wanted to do is come home, eat something really bland and then go to sleep. Jett has been so helpful with the housework, grocery shopping etc. Lucky for him, this week I am feeling a LOT better and so I am feeling like I am a human again. All this is to say that I really really love my husband and am so thankful that he was raised by such wonderful people who brought him up right!!

Ok.. you can blame the sappiness on hormones if you want to :)

That is really all that I have right today! More updates to come!

Happy Mothers Day

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

It was so sweet to wake up Sunday morning. Jett had me a mommy to be card and it hit me again, I am going to be a mommy! God is good huh!

As usual, I really want to honor the women in my life, who have really changed it for the better.
In no particular order:

Mom Darla: I don't even know where to start. For so long, it was just me and you. I remember the lazy saturday's of going to the bookstore, stocking up and laying around to read. I remember working in the yard, redoing your first house. The time I cried in the movie theater and you made fun of me. I remember my first breakup and there you were, telling me it would be ok. And oh how right you were. When I was not ready to leave that high school life, you were strong enough to make me. You helped mold me and shape me into the person that I am today. And I hope that it is a person that you are proud of. I cherish the memories that we have made and look forward to the new ones. Life has taken us on a lot of twists and turns, shaken us up and beaten us down, yet in the end, all that matters is we come out stronger, better, and if possible closer! I love you so very much.

Mom Sherry: How lucky I am to have met and fell in love with a man with such an amazing mother. The love you have in your heart for your family is inspiring. You have so few wants for yourself, yet you dream so big for the rest of us. No matter what we may be going through in our life, we know that we can call on you and you will talk to us until we feel ok with it. You have welcomed not only me but also Krista into your family. You have loved us as though we are your flesh and blood, and on this day and every day from now, we just want you to know that we lvoe you with our whole hearts!!! You are the best mom in law any girl could ask for!

Nanacita: If you looked up unconditional love in my dictionary, your face would be there. I can't believe how strong your spirit and your love is. Life has dealt you some pretty tough blows, yet you just keep on trucking. Your laugh always makes me crack up, your words always make me feel good. No matter what question I have, you always, ALWAYS have the answer. You might be making it up as you go, but you always have the answer. I have so many memories of you always make my life right. From cuts and scrapes to tears and fears... Nana could fix it all. I am so sad that I don't get to see you every day. I miss those times. I hope you know that you are in my thoughts ALWAYS!! I hope that I can be half the mother to my children as you have been to me.. because you have been more than a Nana, you have been a mom also! I love you

Wawa. HOpefully Sherri will read this to you. You are the glue of the Walker clan. You hold us together, you are the rock! Through your example we realize that life is supposed to be filled with laughter and fun. Why should we waste time being mad or upset? The stories I have heard of water fights (both inside and out), pulling a gun on Kent and Jett, Kala calling you to save her, Roy wanting you to check him out of school, all of these just prove what a wonderful person you are. When I first came to Corpus, I realized that there were not a lot of "outsiders". That everyone was family.. and it was a different concept to me, that family would be that close that they would be friends! I just look up to you in so many ways, and am so blessed to have you in my life. We love and miss you!!

Laura--- from the first time I had you in class, to you being my maid of honor.. I just love you so much!! Thank you for everything. At one point, I looked up to you like a mother figure, now you are a close and dear friend!!

I love you all! Thank you for making a difference in my life!!

Birthday!

I forgot to mention that today is our dear friend K'Lynn's birthday. If you have a minute, send her an email heylilredhead@yahoo.com

We love and miss you K'lynn!! Have a great day!

Friends

Dear Friends

Thank you so much for all the suggestions on dealing with the morning sickness. I guess I feel bad complaining about feeling bad (ha ha) because we have been wanting this for so long. However, all the other moms have helped me out by saying "It is ok to say, MORNING SICKNESS SUCKS"

My doctor's appointment is May 16th at 8:45. I can't wait. I want to get the for sure due date. Jett and I are not going to find out if we are having a son or a daughter, we want to be suprised. I remember Mary Claire telling me that when her brohter Byron walked out and said "I have a son" it was the most special moment ever. . . I want to have that anticipation and excitement and wonder and suprise!

We had a little prayer meeting at work on Thursday morning, and it was so sweet. When they thanked the Lord for the blessing of our child, I just cried and cried. Partly because I am a raging ball of hormones but it was touching to everyone, everyone had tears in their eyes. Babies are just blessings!

Well, I had better get ready for the day. I just wanted to post a little update!

Have a great day!

Our Big News

Dear Friends,

Well, if you have not already guessed it, we are PREGNANT!! Finally! Jett and I are just so excited.

We have been trying for a while, and I just thought that I would never get pregnant. Go figure, the one month that we forget about "ovulation" yada yada, BAM, it happens.

Krista can't wait to become an Aunt. Mom Darla and David are ready to be a Mimi and (nothing figured out here). Mom Sherry and Dad Roy are excited as well. My dad was happy we told him, he said "it is about time".

We feel very lucky to have Kelli and Darren to help us out, as this is all so new. If we have to be away from our family, this is the best place to be. Sidney is very excited that Miss Shauna has a baby in her tummy. I hear about 5 times a day "I know why you are sick, your baby in your tummy" It is cute.

I have been very sick, my stomach just won't settle down. And then I can't keep my eyes open. Everyone keeps telling me that this will pass. I am not so sure.

Kelli predicts that if I carry the baby to 40 weeks it will be sometime around January 4th and if I carry it 38 weeks it will be due Christmas Day!

I will keep you guys updated on what is going on, how we are feeling and all the good stuff.

Thanks for your support guys, we love you all!

Love,
Shauna, Jett, Krista and BABY!

My New Blog

Dear family and friends!

I know, it has been a long while since an update, and oh how things have changed! I have started this new blog, as it is easier to manage.

I quit my job that I thought I loved so much. It is funny how when you are not appreciated it, it gets very hard to stay loyal to the company.

I thought I would just take some time to hang out and reevaluate, but an opportunity came up that I could not pass up. My neighbor Darren is just a resource for employement. You need a job, he will find you one. Turns out his sister Carla works at a credit union. She got me a position in Human Resources! I really have been so lucky. The hours are flexible. We are in a brand new building, and I HAVE INTERNET.

Jett is really liking this project. He has alot more hands on work than he did in Minnesota, which is something he enjoys. He is working long hours but I have not heard too many complaints.
Krista is almost finished with her first year of college. YIKES!! She lucked into a job at the financial aide office and has totally just loved it. SHe has changed her major to business and plans to be a financial aide counselor. Now, I know those two do not go together, but it is a good thing for her to do!
