New Orleans

Last weekend, Krista, Jett, Colton and I met Dar and David in New Orleans! It was so very good to see them, and I think they were very shocked to see how Colton has grown! On Sunday, Krista's boyfriend Andrew drove down to meet them and to hang out. here are some pictures:

My beautiful sister

Many of you know how close Krista and I are.. and this past year has brought us even closer than ever.

We have had a pretty rough time of it, these past 7 or 8 years have not been the happiest of times. I know a lot of people have it worse than us, but in our hearts, that does not heal the pain.

Every time I talk about Krista to people, I just brag and brag about what a great person she is. She is so genuine, there is no "fakeness" about her. She is kind to people, she takes the time to visit with strangers. In today's world, yes, this is scary. I remember when Krista was REALLY young, she was at the doctors office and just jabbering to everyone in there.. she never knew a stranger.. the funny thing, she has not outgrown that. Her whole Baton Rouge experience has been made more touching because of this character trait that she has. For instance. . when she flew to Baton Rouge to attend orientation, I was still in MN and Jett was here but working. So he took her to the college and told her ok, if I am not her when you get out, you can call a taxi cab and they will take you to the hotel (Ok.. not the best advice, but he is a man.. so cut him some slack). One of the guidance counselors would not hear of that.. she lives close to the hotel, so she gave Krist a ride home. In that afternoon, Ms. Banks fell in love with Krista and insisted that Krista go to work in the financial aide office. So she did. While working there, she made many friends at Baton Rouge Community College... so when the Ms. BRCC campaign came up, it was the insistance of the financial aide office that Krista run.. which she did and she WON!!

Another example is on a flight back here she sat next to a very nice lady, Cathy. Cathy and Krista visited the whole way and by the end of it, she had convinced Krista to visit her church, Zoor Baptist. Krista did and loved it. Cathy's daughter Amy needed a babysitter, so Krista said sure. Amy's husband Jason is an opthamologist and he needed help in his office, so that is how Krista came to be working in his office.

I could go on and on..but Krista is just such an amazing person.. wherever she goes, she makes great friends.. She is not ruled by what the "popular" are doing, she is not really even that aware of what people might think of her.. she follows her heart.

I know I am biased, but I am just so proud of her. She has had so many struggles and has really just embraced each and every one and turned it into a life lesson.. and it has made her an amazing person!

So Krista.. this is an entry just for you.. I hope you know how much Jett and I love you and how we are so very proud of the young woman you have become.... watching you grow up has brought so much happiness into our lives. . and now I see the love you have for our son, that unconditional love that gives me peace in my heart, I know that should something ever happen to Jett and I, you would make sure he was ok!

You are so special to us!!

WE love you,
Shauna, Jett and Colton

Another week down

It has been a rough week on us, as Granny Dana and Pop Pop Ricky went on a mini vacation. Rick is very into old cars, so they went to cruising the coast in Biloxi.. and Colton is not too happy about that.

However, we were lucky enough to have a second sitter fall into our laps. Bob and his wife Karen, and their two children, Chase and Claire moved here from Alabama, and Karen is looking for a job, and offered to keep Colton for us while Granny was out of town. Chase and Claire are the two most well behaved children I have EVER been around! It is so amazing (maybe Karen and Bob will wear off on Jett and I).

I was going through a bunch of old photo's etc in my closet trying to get rid of a ton of crap I don't need, when I came across a birthday card that Josh had given me who knows when.. I think it was probably about 5 or 6 years ago. It was short, but he said how much he loved me and that no matter where life takes us, nothing will change that.. it went on with some other stuff but I just could not believe I was reading it.. I am so thankful that through all the moves I kept it, and I will always keep it.. it just really did my heart good to read that.. of course, it just makes it so much harder to realize I can't call him up and tell him about it.. but we are dealing with it.

Dar and David are coming to New Orleans next week, so we will meet them there.. it will be a lot of fun and I KNOW they are ready to get some loving from Colton.

GUESS WHO MOVED HERE!!!????!!! TONY CARBONE.. yup, it is true.. we met Tony in Minnesota and he and Cyrus worked in MS for a long time, then he went to AZ and now he is here.. I cannot tell you how excited I am!! I have already made it my mission to fatten his skinny butt up!! I am just so happy he is here.

If you have not gone to Sarah's page, go check out the pictures of Eli.. he is so darned cute!!

No creative title

Hey all!

I feel like there is nothing much to say but I am trying to stay up to date on posting new blogs.

Saturday Jett and I went to the LSU tailgating. NOW NOW, we are still Red Raider fans.. but my work is big into LSU and I am on the tailgating committee.. it was a LOT of fun!! We are hosting the group at our house this weekend for the out of town game but they were told that if they show up before the Tech game is over, too bad HA!

The whole time we were there though, the guy we hired to do the roof and fence kept calling us.. we were ready to let him have it but Jett is a much better guy than that. He tried to screw us out of some money but Jett was able to save it.. and with that money my sweetie bought me something I have wanted forever!!

Now, I know some of you are scratching your head, but this vacuum is amazing and I LOVE IT!

Sunday was a good day also.. I caught a great deal at Sears and got some new work clothes.. Colton was so much fun to play with and we just had a great family day.

told you I was boring!
